  1. 1. Whose fault is this?

    • The teacher.....she should be sacked and thrown in the slammer
      3
    • The student.....he should be hung, drawn and quartered
      38
    • Both of them.....any form of aggressive/violent behaviour should not be tolerated
      9
    • Who gives a toss.....they're American, it's naturally a violent society so it's only to be expected.

my first reaction would be to walk left or right away from him, if he walks with her still in her face then its the punching option

So what you're saying is that with a clear and rational head, when you aren't being intimidated by this big fella not only screaming at you, but at the point before the violence, performed a "fake attack" where he advances on her agressively as if to attack, you would have acted rationally.

I think it's worth remembering that we who are spectators cannot feel any of the fear and adreneline this woman felt. I don't belive she acted in hatred, or anger, but purely on instinct.

When fight or flight responces take over, it's hard to be rational.

He was moving in on her prior to the moment she struck . If that defines a threat then he's as guilty as hell.

Much taller, intimidating, aggressive. Do you have to get shot in order to shoot back?

Haven't voted as I'm waiting for the next episode video.:hihi:

believe me ive done the flight or flight response on numerous occasions, mostly ive been able to talk myself out of situations.

what i said was, we havent seen enough of the video, we dont know what happened before and we never saw her try to move out of the way......which is a perfectly normal response

hitting can in a lot of cases make the situation worse

The incident should be investigated, but if it was as simple as the video looks then it's definitely self defence for me, you don't have to wait to be attacked to act in self defence; a reasonable fear of being attacked is enough.

It's not very often me and you are on the same side melthebell but in this case we are. If the Daily Fail is to be believed.....*ahem*....this all kicked off because she sent him to the Principal for licking the window and refusing to clean it off. OMFG.....she wouldn't last two minutes in my school if she was that finicky. Certain kids who are autistic do things like that routinely which is why specialist support workers get training in how to manage autistic behaviour. Even if he's just an average Joe it wouldn't be an issue of sending him to the Principle for something so minor. Crass over reaction by the teacher imo which inflamed an otherwise pretty innocuous situation.
