Sorry to be dumb but if say the car was worth £3k and we saw a car at £2k, does the dealer give the £1k difference to you, or do you have to trade it private first and then obviously use the cash as you wish? shand1 Posted June 8, 2011 Share Posted June 8, 2011 It really depends on the dealer, but it's unlikely you would get the full market value for your car, the dealer will want to sell your "trade in" on & make a profit. The only way to find out is to go to a dealer & see what they offer, but have your wits about you regarding the maths, & remember if it's no good for you, you can always walk away!
