Because the competition is for amateur photographers only. The prize is for a free course for the winner to enhance their skills (as stated in the OP). b. The OP (http://squaretwophotography.com./) is simply trying to get a bit of business and has used an old, but good, marketing trick to do so. No one gets hurt or loses anything and someone gets something useful. Cracking idea and I wish the OP all the best with the competition and his business. Will you be entering the competition yourself? I thought that seeing as though everybody has a camera on them these days, it would be a good way to bring people together for our love of the city. Just to reiterate, the winner receives a free place on a 1 day photography course in Sheffield.
