Anna B
newspapers are just full of sex scandals of the rich why Misdirection. Worry more about what's not in the papers. What do they not want us to know about? Remember the 'It's a good day to bury bad news' quote.
Mecky
People don't want news, they want salacious titillation, celebrity gossip and sport. Do they? I can't remember being asked what I want. If anything, people are being told what they want.

John X
People don't want news, they want salacious titillation, celebrity gossip and sport. There is quite a lot of truth in that. I know a lot of people who have to switch the TV on as soon as they get up in the morning and it stays on all day until they go to bed even though it remains largely unwatched. But as soon as any news programme comes on the remote is grabbed and the channel is switched over and the TV contines to be unwatched. It is almost like a sub-concious attempt to exclude any reality from their lives! John X
