Should we change a name for a film?

Recommended Posts

Yes that would be fine as it's only a film for entertainment purposes only.

Well that's your choice, personally, I will not let my children watch any film which portrays historical events so inaccurately until they know about the history it misrepresents.

The Dam Busters' dog will be renamed for a new version of the classic war movie, it has emerged.

Stephen Fry, who is writing the film's screenplay, said there was "no question in America that you could ever have a dog called the N-word".

In the remake, the dog will be called "Digger" instead of "******".

An old story that appears to have popped it's head back up.

Regardless of today's political atmosphere, you just can't change history. It may be a small thing but, if that's acceptable, where do we draw the line?

Opinion?

Yet lots of people use films as their basis for understanding events of the past. Like it or not when a historical title is used there is an assumption that what is portryed is accurate and not completely fictiional. How many people have watched Hercules and think that is an accurate representation of the stories of Hercules? How many people have assumed that if it is in the film it is in the book?

What do you think the common view of Jesus's ethnicity is having watched a plethora of Hollywood's depictions of him?
