Rich
Probably a bit far to travel just for 24 hours, but the Isle of Wight's quite good, we've just come back last night from there, been over all week on the annual family holiday (Me, Mum and Dad, my Brother and his wife, their 3 year old son and 4 month old daughter, plus our Clare's parents)

g1978
How about edwinstowe, where you can walk into sherwood forest, loads of short walks and various sights. Only just over an hour's drive too.
