toptotty1117
Castleton is ideal.. Its not far away from Sheffield. The Castle Hotel is lovely to stay in. The rooms have 2-person jaccuzzi baths (on request) and the bar is lovely, with open fires etc. Plenty of places to wander round in Castleton. You can go walking, look in the little shops, visit caves etc. It's perfect for a romantic 1 night stopover.
the_rudeboy
York's a good choice, there's plenty to do and its only an hour (ish) away. Wherever you choose, I'd suggest you get some accommodation booked soon and don't leave it until the last minute.
chimay
York, Whitby, North Yorkshire Moors Railway (see where Heartbeat was filmed), Knaresborough to go punting on the river, anywhere in the Peak District. You're spoilt for choice in Yorkshire.
