as above. restaurant is better option, thats what we had, everyones meal was superb, not a single complaint from a large party. all came out on time, all cooked well. wide choice also, so to not get a single moan from anyone is good imho.

have membership of owlerton and the food is better at G casino, as is the decor , again imho, altho G casino is obviously fresher having just been revamped.

Was the steak in the restaurant or at a gaming table? There can sometimes be confusion over the chips as the bar menu and restaurant menu serve different chips! Fish and chips is only available on the bar menu, where as steak is on both, served slightly differently. Though of course the steak shouldn't be hard!

We recently have a new head chef that has come from a 2 rosette restaurant, he has just started to assemble the team in the kitchen and in the last few months we have had very few kitchen issues.

On the upside being able to eat for free is a good bonus for doing what you would do anyhow, where as other local casino's don't have any incentive for loyalty.

I get mine from the restaurant area. But to be fair I really don't like the steak in general from G Casino.

Of course the loyalty thing is great, but Grosevnor is the biggest casino group in the UK. Like Tesco of the supermarket world. :hihi::hihi:

To be honest I would vote for Napoleans every time.

I've eaten in the restaurant at G casino 5 or 6 times and had one good meal and that was when it opened.

The most recent time was about 3 weeks ago and food was terrible. The waitress even took the starters off the bill without us even saying anything it was that bad.

I like the place but i'm sorry the food is awful.

What did you have?

I go up there for something to eat all the time when I am in the casino and can be honest and say I have never had a decent meal in there. I know that the t-bone steak is apparently very good, but I'm not that much of a big eater.

if you want brilliant food, then go down to either Napoleons Casino, their food is brilliant.

I've not eaten at Napoleons for years, however it's nice to know that it's still good.

Though Napoleons and G are both Casino's their restaurants are quite different in style. Of course we are compared as we both offer gaming but there are some quite big differences in the food operations.

We are open 24 hours a day serving food for 18 hours. On an average week we serve around 1300 meals during those hours. Our restaurant also offers full a la carte choices and is open from 18.00-02.00. With our bar food available from mid day until 4am.

Napoleons does have the luxury of only serving for 4 hours as well as not having any 'Daytime' opening hours. Also in comparison they do not have such bar trade, often forgotton is that not only do we serve a full restaurant on weekends but we serve hot food to all the gaming areas and bar. They also only offer in the restaurant a set menu of either £22 or £28 with supplements for some items, we offer 2 courses for £8.95 or 3 for £10.95 from Sunday to Monday, clearly that gives them much wider scope for purchasing more expensive ingredients. Where as we aim to offer great value, cooked well, though I realise this has been questioned in some comments above.

As well as this anyone that has visited on a weekend night will see that we have a much more city centre feel to the bar as we offer live entertainment free every weekend, which has become very popular, the atmosphere is really not comparable to a quiet meal on Ecclesall Rd!

I am glad ChrisT70 enjoyed their meal, but am of course dissapointed that Aaron feels we haven't achieved the level he expects, from a customer service point of view our staff had realised there was an issue when Wardy1 dined and dealt with it before the guest had even had to ask.

Should anyone reading this thread wish to come and sample the restaurant, and would like to book via PM here I will be glad to offer a bottle of house wine per booking.

Just from reading your threads James you certainly know what you are doing and expect the best from your staff. It's good to see.

Will definately take a trip over with the wife next time we go for a night out :o)

The food is fantastic at Napoleons, 10 x better than the cafe food at the G.

If I was going out to go to a restaurant I would be pickier about the food but I have always had pretty good food at G, the fact they are Casino's and G is 10x better than Napoleons at being a casino I would be more worried as that is their core business.

The weekends are incomparable as it is much more of a night out, Naps can be like being in a morgue, even the staff have migrated to G, they are clearly doing something right.

For your information Napoleons at Owlerton serves food from opening at 5pm until closing time. The restaurant does not have the luxury of only opening 4 hours a night, they serve quality food from 7pm until 2.45am every night of the week. Hot snacks are also available either side of these hours.
