Syria bombing coming soon..

Recommended Posts

No chance of it happening, Assad has to many political allies in his neighbouring Arab states (Muslim Brotherhood), most notably Iran; there’s also a possibility if Syria is attacked by the west not only will Iran come to its aid, but it may cause a revival of Iraqi & Muslim insurgency, subsequently increased attacks on US/UK forces & significantly increase tensions towards Israel. The only way to get Assad out would be to continue the CIA/US support to his opposition, but this involves a great deal of human suffering; not that will bother the US.

It would be the best thing to happen if Iran started a war of it's own making. In this way we could bomb it back to the stone age.

Mmm I take it the US will be tackling Iran on its own, & theres nothing like rattling the cage of some bewildered dictator such Mahmoud Ahmadinejad & his nuclear toys?

I do feel as a country we are being conned by our political representatives both at home and in those of the US. There’s never any mention of the unrest in Bahrain; why well Bahrain is good allies with Saudi Arabia, the US cannot afford to upset the Saudis. As America has said on numerous occasions the Bahrain unrest is purely a domestic issue; yet the situation is exactly the same as in Syria & Libya.

Unlike Syria & Bahrain, Libya has numerous enemies within the Arab states, however Libya stance against the bombing campaign is causing serious problems for the US & UK, we cannot afford to place troops on the ground unless of course we want to lose support from the already wobbling Arab League.

I’d also like to point out the only country benefitting from the conflicts within the Arab states is the US, armaments sales within the US must be going through the roof, not only are they supplying the rebels, but countries such as the UK are spending millions per week replenishing missiles already fired in Libya, wasn’t it a senator many years ago said, there’s nothing like a war or conflict to improve the US economy?

it must have been many years ago - pre-Vietnam, at least. Vietnam war was totally disastrous for the US economy.

It seems to me that world over these massacres in order to maintain the power and affluence of a handful of self interested so called leaders would be much better dealt with in the form of assassination.

Instead, our world leaders dance around the obvious issues claiming that they are not interested in regime change when it is blatantly obvious that they are and if they could be just honest with themselves about it then thousands of lives could be saved by simply pinpointing these individuals and eliminating the problem.

I know that it sounds simplistic and perhaps lacking in diplomatic eloquence but it would save lives, pain and money on a massive scale.

Bombing is just messy and expensive and somewhat misses the point IMO.
