Draggletail Posted June 13, 2011 Share Posted June 13, 2011 The marinas are geared up, also there are a lot of canal side pubs and hotels who's access you could hitch a ride on. Sometimes you can forget where you are, total quiet, birds singing and you're in the centre of a large town. I'd often have canal guys wanting to use my wifi so I eventually got a decent connection in and a proper wifi point for them to use - there are a lot of people do this and they seem to work on the honesty box principle. Many thanks, I've put a lot of thought into this, with it being moored only a 40 minutes drive away (Castleton, Winnats, Cat & Fiddle, better than the M1), we could go on a whim. So it's fingers crossed, I could up my offer slightly, but I know that I'm going to find something that I haven't accounted for. The previous owner (the poor guy's now dead) ripped out the gas fired central heating boiler and replaced it with a multi fuel stove and back boiler, I reckon that I can sort it out, but it all costs money. It can get quite specialised can't it, I have a friend in Gloucester who specialises in the repair of narrowboat diesel engines, not quite sure what his area of expertise is, but he seems to have found a niche and gets called out all over the country.
