old tup
In the late 60s one of our Sat night haunts was the Ladybower Inn ,it was run at that time by a character by the name of Roger Eyre.Roger was a real comic, always coming out with some amusing and outrageous stories. One week the pub was booked solid by police divers looking for a murdered womans body in the resevoir which they found,Roger said [They ought to throw one in every week its good for the takings!]outrageous ,but that was Roger. As closing time came the regulars hung back and he locked up,from the kitchen came a hot beef joint and a pork one too plus breadbaps.Roger carved and served them but not for free, they were delicious he did a roaring trade as everone was hungry after a few beers,we could go in the living quarters sit in the armchairs in front of the fire, the place was packed until the early hours. We used to go there every Sat for the great atmosphere and friendly locals ,,Now just another happy memory of good times remembered!.
