eckerslike
Figures out today from the Office of National statistics showed a fall in unemployment of around 88,000 over the last 3 months. Good news indeed.
NorthernStar
Strangely enough though the number of people claiming has gone up:confused:
iansheff
They say it is falling but is it, how many people have been moved onto benefits such as pension credits? Someone I know over 60 was told that they could get pension credits, however they are then no longer on JSA and the person is no longer classed as unemployed. What other twists are there that massage the figures?

WeX
Strangely enough though the number of people claiming has gone up:confused: could this be people switching from incapacity benefit after being judged fit to work?

Tony
Massaging the unemployment figs down like they did in th '80's when they shunted thousands of unemployed onto invalidity benefit. Really? Has the way that the figures are calculated been changed since the last lot left office?
