Help me find a car for £6/7k!

Recommended Posts

I have had my name on the list for numerous high profile cars over the years and people have actualy offered me thousands over the deposit paid for my place on the list, some of which I have found hard to refuse.;)

Yes maybe but the OP is not in the position to put her name down for the latest Lambo or Zonda.

OP - Sounds like you want the Merc so why a Passat TDi as another choice? They are completely different cars. A 3 series BMW would be a logical alternative.

Nice one here

If you are planning to buy a used car then it is better to go through an broker. But make sure that the person is experienced and will get you good car. You can also search in internet and find people who are willing to sell their car.

So, one minute you're advising to buy a used car through an experienced broker to ensure getting 'a good car' ... the next minute, you're advocating buying a car off the internet off people who're 'willing' to sell their car.

There's an 08 plate, bright yellow Vauxhall Corsa in Evans Halshaw on Penistone Road. £6,100 i think! It's gorgeous!! I wish i could afford it!

That seems a bit expensive for a Corsa though, bet you could find one very similar for cheaper?

You have never experienced the smell of a freshly upholstered Connolly hide interior have you. You have also never experienced a secondary market increase of 25% on leaving the showroom have you.:)

Lets be honest here.. have you? ;)

To the OP...I got my car from a sales place just down the road from me called TTS Car Sales. Its on Archer Road in Millhouses (opposite Sainsburys) and whilst I only got me a little Tigra it has a lot smarter cars and the prices seemed quite reasonable too. They do have a website, but don't seem to update it very often. Heres their Autotrader page but looking at it now I must admit there isn't a great deal on there that might interest you. Last time I looked there was a Bentley!

Don't let the money burn a hole in your pocket.

Stay cool and save up for a new one. I never buy used and can't understand anyone that does, you are potentially throwing your money down the drain! :)

You silly numpty.

Maybe Stanley11 is really Danny11, he's been offline for a while now and he used to make similar odd posts.

On the other hand buy new and you are definitely throwing it down the drain. You loose a 3rd of the value as you drive off the forecourt!

The OP's initial selection (C-class Merc, Honda Civic, VW Passat TDI) doesn't really help to figure out what cars to advise... OP,

(i) What features must your next car have?

(ii) What features would be nice to have, but not essential?

(iii) What shape (coupe, hatch, SUV, etc.) do you want or NOT want?

(iv) What traction type (4WD, AWD, FWD, RWD) do you want or NOT want?

(v) Petrol, diesel, hybrid?

(vi) MPG - important, middle-of-the-road, irrelevant?

PS - bought my last car from here on a personal recommendation. I couldn't recommend David highly enough. He specialises in 1 owner-only-with-fully-documented-past 'prestige' cars. And if it's not in stock, he'll find it you, with the spec you're after, at the price you're after (might take a while tho')
