If only Brian Clough had become England manager (not a football thread)

Recommended Posts

Had Brian Clough become the England manager back in the seventies we would have won world cup after world cup.

Just imagine the effect this would have had on the collective national psyche.

the England players in the late 70s and early 80s weren't good enough to win the World Cup. They started getting better in the mid 80s and early 90s, and then they started getting bad again. I was born after 1966 and the only England team that was remotely good enough to win the World Cup was the 1970 team. After that, the best one was the 1990 team. All the others have been garbage. THE PLAYERS AREN'T GOOD ENOUGH.
