masbrolass
Thorntons are to close 180 shops and trade online. Anyone else sad that such traditional high street shops are closing. I also can't believe TJ Hughes is under threat. I hate what's happening.
Karis
Wow. Really? You got a link for this? If so, it's another blow to the high street. It's the whole Internet thing. To be honest I'd like to see measures put in place to stop the selling online at stupid prices. Mind you, I'd like something put in place to protect small businesses from the supermarkets, so I can probably want all day - it'll never happen. willman
But the stores will be replaced with franchises, obviously helping budding enterpeneurs and reducing their own asset liability.
Alcoblog
Probably because people have got fed up with sugary confections and have decided to eat chocolate instead. I wouldn't be surprised if Cadbury's starts closing down soon.
Blondie73
Crikey,I used to work for them a few years ago.Sad,but apart from Easter and Christmas,it was quiet.Mothers day and Valentines did ok.The ice cream was pretty much the only thing that kept the tills ringing in the summer. Blondie73
We used to get people coming in shouting at us because they bought a box a few days ago from us then saw the same one in the supermarket for much cheaper.Unfortunately prices came from head office and we were not allowed to reduce them to the supermarkets offers.Shot themselves in the foot really!
