shand1
The most reliable cars i have had in recent years have been volvo's & ford's. In the past i've had a few german cars, (vw, bmw) & they cost me a fortune in parts & are not all they're cracked up to be on reliability either. I also briefly had a renault, which had so many problems, i got rid after a week!

alchresearch
Just done an Autotrader search for cars with over 200,000 miles on the clock and the Japs hardly featured, it was mainly VWs, Astras, Pug 306s and Volvos.

That may be because they are such good cars no one wants to sell them. jb

Strix
If it's cost you're worried about - Vauxhall are doing a lifetime warranty at the moment (to 100,000 miles)
willman
Surely its best to quantify reliable. We have an mgtf no problems and would highly recommend, but it is very well maintained. I wouldn't have a toyota avensis given to me, high mileage lagunas struggle - thats just from personal experience and not all cars are the same. I had a Kia sportage again no problems, in fact its now somewhere in some mountain range in Eastern Europe. My B.iL drives an older ford focus, he hasn't done anything except mot and service it for 10 years.
Becky B
I've got a Corsa (diesel) and it's never broken down... Needs bits replacing of various levels of expense at every MOT, but the parts are fairly cheap, I believe. Does that count as reliable?
