gina89
Hi all, going to York next month for the night, got a few things planned for the day time but don't know where to go for a nice meal at the night time? Anyone been to any nice restaurants there? Thanks
taxman
Yes, there are some great places in York Our favourite is The Blue Bicycle (starters £6-£11, mains £16-£24) For veggie/vegan/gluten free stuff (I'm none of those but it's still good) we like El Piano (5 plates to share for about £13) There are loads of good eateries and they cover a range from cheap and cheerful, pub meals, gastopubs, bistros, chains and independents. Have a great time. There are also some top quality pubs selling locally brewed ale.
Helcat
La Rustique is nice - French around the back of the Yorvik. Does an early evening special price menu
the_rudeboy
Another vote for El Piano. Definitely not posh or romantic, but the food is very good.

BananaSplit
I've not been since they relocated, but Oscars always got my vote everytime. Humongous portions and really reasonable.

spookyfish
I'd recommend Rustique too - lovely French-style bistro. http://www.rustiqueyork.co.uk/ Another lovely place where we always seem to end up is 31 Castlegate, who do a particularly nice belly pork with crackling. http://www.31castlegate.co.uk/
