'After The Apocalypse' is a film about a pregnant woman's battle to keep her unborn baby against the wishes of a hostile medical profession, in Kazakhstan.

AFTER THE APOCALYPSE

 

A one-off screening of this critically acclaimed, 65 minute documentary at the Showroom Cinema, Sheffield on Tuesday the 5th of July.

 

During the Soviet era, the people of Semipalatinsk in Kazakhstan were used as human guinea pigs in the testing of nuclear weapons. Today they live with the consequences.

 

Bibigul, a local woman from the test-site, is pregnant and the head of the maternity clinic implores her to get tested and abort the child who he fears will be born disabled. But Bibigul refuses to give up her dream of becoming a mother.
