Time to ban ice cream vans ? they are loud and encourage obesity

Recommended Posts

Surely making children run after ice cream vans is encouraging a healthy active lifestyle? As for racist overtones, maybe they could change the jingle to "we dont need that fascist groove thang" by Heaven 17 for parity's sake?

Our ice cream man used to wear a white hood and had a burning cross nailed to the back of the van, but he was extra generous with Cadbury's flakes, so it kind of balanced out.

:hihi::hihi::hihi:

And what about noise, this goes back to the jingles the ice cream van plays to warn everyone the "fat machine" is on its way, surely this is noise pollution at its worst? not to mention the kids shouting and screaming when they hear that the ice cream van is on its way

You have a point with this one, our ice cream man comes around about 8ish, not long before I put my young son to bed. I hate having to tell him that it's too late for Ice cream when the jingle's blaring outside the driveway. Especially when he can see other kids getting ice creams.

Fatties should certainly be refused service at ice cream vans and everywhere as they are costing us a fortune and contributing to the dismantling of the NHS. Racist ice cream vans is rather extreme though.

or when they approach they should be chained to the rear bumper and made to run after the van for a loop of his selling route before they are allowed to take thier cone (small one mind ) and go home

Should skinnies be refused sick bags on planes, or diet cokes in McD's? Never had you down as a fatcist, Mr Prime.:hihi:

Hey! ... don't knock ice cream vans! I'm thinking of getting one (with my G/F) to market my latest flavour which is only half fat.

Only half of it's double cream ... the rest's advocaat with maraschino cherries.

Made a couple of pints yesterday and am still recovering!:D

Only cost about twenty quid! :gag:

Quite right, your lordship, miserable so and sos. Let's shut McDonalds, Burger king, all cafe's, bars and chip shops while we're at it. What kid's actually need is encouragement to exercise, healthy eating with treats such as ice cream won't result in obesity unless done in excess.:roll:

Ice cream vans do encourage obesity among our children.

Why are they always at parks, surely that can't be right. The vans are plying there trade and making our children fat, why can't they sell lentils instead?

Closet guy did raise a good pointm are they CRB checked and have they passed there Advanced Driving course?

Do you think racist jingles are acceptable? should the ice cream vans not play something that is more in tune with modern britain? something more miserable?

I think they should

What a complete load of tosh, so what you are saying is anyone who comes into contact selling ice cream/sweets/toys etc to children should be CRB checked ?,this would have to include shops etc. The CRB check was brought into force for people WORKING with children not selling to children. As for the driver to have passed an advanced driving course, WHY should he have to, for what reason should he pass one ?, he is not transporting children in his vehicle hes carrying ice cream for gods sake, why do you feel the need he has to be an advanced driver to carry ice cream.

If you dont want your children to eat icecream the simple answer is dont buy it for them, nobody is twisting your are to do so.

Get a grip on your life, did you have the same opinion when you were a child and your parents bought you ice cream.
