I know know if you actually read any newspapers at that time but the right wing tabloids certainly were arguing that the BBC should be more pro-Iraq war. My favourite article from that time though, was a hilariously daft piece in the Spectator from somebody arguing that the Daily Mail wasn't being supportive enough of the Iraq war.
