*Hipster* Posted July 1, 2011 Share Posted July 1, 2011 Alas, my wedding day is over - boo hoo!! It was PERFECT though and I loved every second of it and have very happy memories!! But now... what to do with my wedding dress...? I dont want to sell it or give it away, not yet anyway so am thinking of just boxing it up and putting it away - I just thought I'd get it cleaned first. aldam2 Posted July 1, 2011 Share Posted July 1, 2011 Once youve had it dry cleaned then you will have to wrap it in special tissue paper, this will stop your dress turning yellow. Angilaruk Posted July 1, 2011 Share Posted July 1, 2011 The cheapest wedding dress dry cleaning we saw was £60. We decided that we'd try washing it ourselves instead. My step-daughter had bought it from ebay as a shop soiled dress, for the evening and it had lots of makeup stains around the neckline and zipper, and some to the hem. We took a chance and sprayed some good stain remover on it, put it in a duvet, then put it on a hand wash cycle on the washer. It came out perfect! medusa Posted July 1, 2011 Share Posted July 1, 2011 I'd check with your dress maker or manufacturer- many of them don't recommend dry cleaning at all any more but instead recommend a specialist washing service. Mine did and it cost £60 although that was a little over a decade ago. I bought a whole load of acid free tissue paper and a huge vacuum bag, then put tissue down the arms and separating all the layers from each other and the bag (as instructed) and then vacuum packed it.
