anam77
Hey, Well the recovery time is 4-8 weeks. There is no risk to the donor`s life and he needs to visit hospital after he is discharged only once.
NewBiz
One more question. What if the donor goes on to develop problems with their remaining kidney. Are they fast tracked to get a replacement?
anam77
Regarding your question I would like to tell you that all the tests the doctors do is for the donor. they make sure that the donors life is not at risk and if there is even a chance or slight probability they will not accept the kidney from the donor. There has never been a case where donors kidney was affected due to the donation so there is no need for the donor to worry. ---------- Post added 04-06-2013 at 21:51 ---------- and secondly they keep an eye on the donor so there is no chance of him getting into ill health. Not only regarding kidney but they keep an eye on all your body functions so there is no chance of having any health issues in the future ---------- Post added 04-06-2013 at 21:53 ---------- and if still something starts to go wrong they will activate you on the list way before you even need a transplant. I know patients who are activated on the transplant list for more than three years now ( they didn`t donate keep that in mind) and they not even once had to do dialysis or anything like that. anam77
this means that even if something is wrong it doesn't mean you will need dialysis o
