Take the example of the moon circling round the earth. The moon is actually traveling in a straight line. The huge mass of the earth is bending space-time, so that the path of the moon appears to travel in a circle around the earth. Just like the earth is traveling in a straight line through space, but the enormous mass of the sun is bending the universe around it so that we appear to go in a circle.
