Well I should imagine the fifth amendment silence helped her out a lot.

 

Yes and no. Some people take silence as an admission of guilt. And some defense attorneys feel it's safer to have their client say nothing, than to start blabbing and tell a story the prosecution could possibly poke holes in. There was a very good reason her lawyers told her to keep her mouth shut. And I'm betting it wasn't because she was innocent.
