Has Obama's election fuelled the rise of far right groups & terrorists?

Recommended Posts

Dear me, your original post contained an article that made no mention of black hate groups and the only examples it gave were of white wrongdoing.
Yes, 'dear me'-the thread isn't about the existence of the far right in the US, we already know about them, it's about the increase in numbers of some of them.

You just made a comment to there is no evidence to suggest that black hate groups are on the rise when all I can see is no one has written about this or if they have the article might possibly have been deemed racist and so therefore don't make it into the MSM.

What were you saying about playing the race card earlier? I posed the question as to whether these far right groups had any reason to be increasing in number.

Now I don't believe for one minute you went on a search for an article to show there was evidence either way you just put that one up because it's your pet subject.

I came across the article on the main page of the BBC News website and decided to post the link because hitherto it was something I wasn't aware of, and further investigation suggests it's been reported before.

Tell me Streamline, do you believe there's been an increase in membership of certain far right groups and if so has it been inspired by Obama's election or for other reasons-that was the only question I was posing.

To be quite honest I'm not that interested what I am interested in is fair reporting and I posted an article found elsewhere to add some balance you decided to insult the writer.

I replied, pointing out your source writer was a criminal and a drug abuser which you didn't like and then produced a similar article from 2008 with a similar theme and started to mention the BNP obviously forgetting to mention there are plenty of criminals in other parties as well.

So from knowing nothing about a subject (“hitherto it was something I wasn't aware of, and further investigation suggests it's been reported before.”) your are now forum expert.

I looked at the 2008 article and it then became apparent that both the articles are similar and funnily enough both have been "broadcast" in the run up period to the US elections. Both you could argue are anti-white on the basis that it was fairly easy to find a black hate group and yet this wasn't mentioned in either articles.

If I can do it why can't two professional journalists?

Why can’t you do it when you must have realised both the articles were effectively misleading the public?

How was the article you linked to relevant to the OP?

You threw in the red herring regarding Johnny Dymond's conviction for cannabis possession-how is that relevant to him reporting a story about the growth of the far right in America? I mentioned the BNP because I know you have an affection for them, so if you're going to use criminal convictions to deride someone you should be careful to not throw stones in glass houses.

So from knowing nothing about a subject (“hitherto it was something I wasn't aware of, and further investigation suggests it's been reported before.”) your are now forum expert.

Nope, and never claimed to be, but since I started the thread you can't really argue with me about it's purpose.

So once again, simple question, do you believe there's been a growth in the far right and if you do, do you believe it's been inspired by Obama's election-it's not a complicated or loaded question!

If I can do it why can't two professional journalists?

Maybe they can.

Why can’t you do it when you must have realised both the articles were effectively misleading the public?

Thank you at last, so you don't believe there's been a growth in the far right in the US due to Obama's election?

Far right on the rise. Neo-Nazis taking over the White House. Obama a secret Muslim, not born in America, socialists under the bed.

It's amazing the tripe that today's generation swallow as truth. Is it a sign of a dumbing down tendency or chronic U-Tube-itis?

The Ku Klux Klax supported Obama to become leader of the Democrats against Hilary Clinton. It was obvious the Democrats were going to win the election and the KKK wanted "anyone but that crazy bitch" to be president.

The KKK are totally defunct. Of what importance would the support of a bunch of tattooed, semi-illiterate Idaho trailer dwellers be of any use to a presidential candidiate? They would need their support like being exposed to a dose of lethal radiation.

If you see where I’ve just mentioned there’s something a bit odd about these articles then can you understand that there’s a possibility they are nothing more than PR stunts leading up to the election.

You threw in the red herring regarding Johnny Dymond's conviction for cannabis possession-how is that relevant to him reporting a story about the growth of the far right in America?

Red Herring was it? No it wasn’t it was in response to the article I quoted and your insults towards the writer. Here are your words again:

“An essay written by Suzy Rice? It's a little like Abu Hamza writing about Jewish folks and it being given any credibility.

She also designed the Star Wars logo, maybe she prefers living in fantasy rather than reality.”

I hope you see the irony in suggesting she lives in a fantasy world as opposed to your man with his finger on the pulse smoking pot, plus the fact he has a criminal conviction. Now what problem do you have with this women, is it something to do with the fact you don’t like her “right wing” politics and yet we mere mortals have to take your source writer and his musings as gospel?

I mentioned the BNP because I know you have an affection for them, so if you're going to use criminal convictions to deride someone you should be careful to not throw stones in glass houses.

Yes and what I’m picking up from this is you cannot get your head around the fact that it was you throwing stones the first place.

Nope, and never claimed to be, but since I started the thread you can't really argue with me about it's purpose.

Well you seem to claim some sort of expertise with these words:-

“but since you do there's no evidence to suggest there's been an uptake in black nutjobs since Obama's election, whereas there has been in the white ones. “

So on the basis of two articles that you only found today you don’t think that part of your reason for posting them was nothing more than a bit of stirring up? I’d have some respect for you had you been studying this for a while but you clearly haven’t

So once again, simple question, do you believe there's been a growth in the far right and if you do, do you believe it's been inspired by Obama's election-it's not a complicated or loaded question!

I’m not particulary interested in the subject but to give a qualified answer I have to check the sources for the articles you posted for a start. I ‘ve seen similar things like this put about making various shock claims but of further investigations it turns out some lobby group has managed to get the press to swallow bogus information hook line and sinker.

Maybe they can.

Bogus reporting then and not worth discussing.

Thank you at last, so you don't believe there's been a growth in the far right in the US due to Obama's election?

They may well be PR stunts, but if you read the OP I was posing a question.

Red Herring was it? No it wasn’t it was in response to the article I quoted and your insults towards the writer. Here are your words again:

“An essay written by Suzy Rice? It's a little like Abu Hamza writing about Jewish folks and it being given any credibility.

She also designed the Star Wars logo, maybe she prefers living in fantasy rather than reality.”

..and I said in response that you're comparing an opinion against something that's being reported as factual. Nor does what Suzy Rice say have anything to do with the OP

No I dont like her politics and what she has to say is irrelevant to the matter in hand.

Yes and what I’m picking up from this is you cannot get your head around the fact that it was you throwing stones the first place.

I'll take that one on the chin.

Well you seem to claim some sort of expertise with these words:-

Stirring something up? I posed a question and didnt offer a view about what I thought about far right wing groups.

I’m not particulary interested in the subject but to give a qualified answer I have to check the sources for the articles you posted for a start. I ‘ve seen similar things like this put about making various shock claims but of further investigations it turns out some lobby group has managed to get the press to swallow bogus information hook line and sinker.

Ok, that's fine

Bogus reporting then and not worth discussing.

That's what we're discussing.

What do you mean thank you at last Go and read post 31.

Always polite I am to you Streamline, after all you have a tendency to be over zealous with the report button ;)

Tell me about it!

He still hasn't shown me how I personally abused him earlier in this thread.
