Boycott the companies who advertise in News of the World

Recommended Posts

A bit over dramatic Andy.

This could well have been the actions of a hand full of people working for NOTW yet people on here are hinting at bringing the entire organization down. That is just what we need in the current climate. More people on the dole.

What next after the NOTW? I vote we bring down the internet! Millions of pornographic pages, slanderous gossip, hacking and exploitation. BURN IT DOWN!!!!

The difference is "the internet" isn't a commercial venture set up to make money for a few shareholders. It also isn't controlled by a small group of people, unlike a company. If your comments were aimed at a particular website it would be a better comparison, but there are already dozens of websites I would like to see closed down.

What do you think we should do? Brush it under the carpet and pretend it never happened? Give them an award for innovative journalism?

If it was a few people and the senior management were genuinely shocked, it would have come out years ago because they would have printed a full apology as soon as they found out.

The people in charge at the NOTW new about what was going on with the celebrities, but who cares about that? not me.

I dont beleive they sanctioned, or even knew about Millie Dowler and Holly Wells though, they'ed have to be stupid, which they are not.

That's the problem with turning a blind eye to criminality, once you tell your staff criminality is OK you own the consequences. Sure you only meant it to apply to an airheaded slapper who makes her coin diddling 2nd division footballers in a travelodge in Bolton but look where it lead. Tell your staff "criminality is OK" and "we need exclusives", guess what, you're responsible when your employees end up tapping murdered childrens mobiles because of the working environment you created.

(you being the scum at the NOtW not you personally obviously :) )

Find out just who was involved and take action against them for over stepping the mark. Pretty simple.

Ohh, and don't let Rebekah Brooks run the internal investigation like it seems she is doing at the moment. That is just insane.

Nice to see you are well informed about this issue.

Good luck buying the NOTW tommorow.

Pretty quick off the mark and got there before anyone else I see. Excellent. :hihi:

BTW, I actually can by the newspaper tomorrow if they still have copies in stock. Not hard really.

 I think we've got to heart of all the fuss on this forum about this particular newspaper.

Just dont buy the newspaper if you're unhappy. Let the market decide ;)

You won't find a single newsagent in the country that has copies of last Sunday's papers. So very hard really.

Not really. I'm not angry with the thousands of other companies set up to make money for shareholders. The difference is they didn't stoop quite so low to do it. They also, to the best of my knowledge didn't deliberately try to interfere with police investigation and didn't try to tell lies to cover up what they'd done.

Newspapers make more revenue from advertising than from the cover price. There is a market for advertising space. If someone says they won't shop at Asda because they advertise in this paper, then Asda have to decide whether they want to go ahead and advertise anyway. If enough people say it, Asda might decide not to. As you say, let the market decide ;)
