salmonbones
I understand that babys cannot walk, however the wear and tear from the buggys does cause damage to pavements, so why should the mothers not pay for this. We could pay the wages of people who could enforce this, and who would then give the women fines who were not displaying a suitable tax disc on the front of the pram. Trying to create yourself a job to give you something to do during the day?!

Won't happen. Next thing you'll be saying Mothers should be taxed for having babies in the first place!

megalithic
what about people who spend far too long breathing, don't they realise they are sucking up oxygen that other more deserving people could be using? oxygen doesnt grow on trees you know! This is why i'd ban joggers.
Rich
Why not Rich, the prams damage the pavement No they don't, not if the prams are maneuvered safely, as they are in most cases.

Anna Glypta
I for one am utterly sick of mothers who push there babys in prams, why are these mothers not charged a tax to account for the wear and tear there buggys cause to the pavement, as well as the damage the pram caused to the road - when the mother pushes the pram accross the road. Also, why are children who ride bikes not forced to pay road tax, do these 2 wheeled menaces not cause damage to the pavement and road? If we were to implement a charge/tax disc, the mother could attach the tax disc to the pram, or the bike in the case of a child on a bike. The money generated, could then be used to pay someone to implement this and enforce the rules. It could be a real money spinner and rid the country of prams and bikes I don't know about that but something ought to be done about kids driving around in electric buggies and cars. We have suddenly had a spate of the things. OK they don't exactly break the sound barrier but the tots who are driving them have as much road sense as a frog. Surely there is something wrong with parents who buy this sort of stuff for their kids when they are still learning how to walk. 10 years down the line they will be taking their 15 stone 12 year old fat camp to burn off the lard that they built up by not even walking when they head for the park.
