Obelix
http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0304395910006895 Truly effective.... I've asthma and it's triggered by ibuprofen, so I use co-codamol precisely so that my asthma isnt triggered... Have you tried discussing with the pharmacy first - they may be able to find a better OTC one that doesnt give you problems, failing that it's back to the GP I guess for advice. medusa
If you're really struggling with post op pain relief ask to see one of the anaesthetics team who specialises in pain control. There are lots of things, from tramadol to amitriptyline, which can be used for pain control and which don't affect asthma. They're all prescription only drugs though, so you need to speak so someone who has the ability to decide what's appropriate and write you up for whatever. EDIT- and it's probably your stress and your altered breathing as a result of the pain which is affecting your asthma, rather than the painkillers themselves (with the exception of a very small reduction in breathing response due to opiates). Anaesthetists will be able to help you with compensating for that with extra inhalers etc for the few days that it could be necessary to keep your asthma in check. naturels
'http://www.sciencedirect.com/science...04395910006895 Truly effective.... ' Obelix, you have chosen one study out of many. If you look on the British Acupuncture Councils website you will see the comparison of many studies on this topic. Acupuncture studies are usually poor quality and techniques as there is no money available to perform quality ones. You cannot judge the efficacy of acupuncture on one poor quality study.
