You could of course just answer the question if you know the answer?

The problem appears to be the old Orange order parades chestnut - the Orangemen want to march, and the catholic communities rightly or wrongly don't want them to. Hence the violence. It's the same thing that gave rise to the Drumcree standoffs of a decade or so ago, but this time it comes with added violence.

where have you been for the god knows how many years?

Watching peace break out, if these guys are using Catholicism as an excuse to create mayhem, messrs Adams and McGuiness will not be well pleased.

Will that do you? :loopy:

It was a late, starry night in the region now known as Israel a couple of thousand years ago and drinking buddies Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were beginning to grow restless with the weekly goat hurling competition (There was no Sex and The City on the box back then)

After a few more brews, when they were all out of their skulls, they decided to write this story.

Its all been downhill from there really.

What is happening there
Same as usual, minus some of the 'sectarian colouring'.

who is doing what to who
The same parties as usual, doing the same to one another as usual. Minus a few ex-commanders who have landed themselves a cushy number at Stormont.

, and why?
The same reason as usual: turf war. Power, influence and income. Now that sectarianism is officially out, both sides are still scrambling to find replacement 'badges' to shadow the usual drugs/arms/influence/extortion/trafficking/etc. that they have always done.

Some people just can't be helped (shoulder-shrugging icon).

And these two don't even deserve the bandwidth to carry their names in this thread.

Sometimes it is preferable to sup with the devil than to do nothing, despite the taste not being that pleasant.
