Nagel
Depends on the varnish. Nitromors for modern varnish, but if it's an old shellac varnish plain meths will do it. Finney's are the place for everything about wood finishing. They used to be in Heeley, but they recently moved to Chesterfield so they're not so handy any more. Still, you can phone Mark Finney who is extremely knowledgeable and very helpful and the person to answer your question best - http://www.finneyswoodfinishes.co.uk/
