Dozy
What sort of things does he like doing in his spare time? If you find out what he's interested in, you might be able to find stuff that's suitable. If he likes walking and the countryside, there's the whole of the Peak District practically on our doorstep and some lovely National Trust and English Heritage houses to visit. But if he's not into that sort of thing, he'll hate it! Once you've got an idea of what he's into, you could check out a couple of websites to see what's on - http://www.sheffieldontheinternet.co.uk/events.html, http://www.events-in-sheffield.co.uk/, http://www.welcometosheffield.co.uk/events, http://www.skiddle.com/whats-on/Sheffield/, http://eventful.com/sheffield/events Better still - send him the links so he can have a look for himself. Mecky
Take him to the Peak District, they have hills there. It's about as different from Holland as you can get.

Frank Sidney
If he's a footy fan perhaps a trip to a ground. Old Trafford or Anfield. There's also one or two interesting friendlies coming up for local clubs so he may want to go to one of them. Or Sheffield FC the oldest club in the world? What about a gig somewhere? ....
