callippo
just in case anybody hasn't mentioned it on this particular thread, the so-called 'children' are, according to the human rights groups, always people under the age of only age 18. the problem is that in the Arab tradition, young men reach fighting age at only 15. That's when they're expected to join the army, not age 18. what ultimately happens is that when a 16 year old Palestinian, firing weapons and engaging the enemy, is killed in battle, he goes down as a shahid in Palestine. They put his picture up and adorn his memory as a brave warrior. But in the west, the propaganda machine morphs him into some sort of innocent child victim. Peas Maker
You notice, this is an issue being raised by an Israeli rights group, against the Israeli government. Isn't it good that this sort of descent is allowed. I do agree it is wrong, but the irony of it is the Palestinians (and this Israeli rights group) demand better rights for these kids, when there is far far worse abuse within their own territories. How often do you see Palestinians and rights group mass protesting at children being used as bombers? I'm not saying it's right, just a case of the pot calling the kettle black, even if it's done by proxy. Hi Actually you are NOW wrong Israel has just passed a law making it illegal for Israeli citizens to protest against Things like boycotting settlements , which we all know are illegal . callippo
illegal under what law. There is no such thing as international law, no matter how hard the Guardianistas, etc, attempt to pretend that there is. the silly domestic Israeli Knesset law you mention, well any Parliament can pass garbage laws if they want to. The final arbiter, the High Court of Israel will I'm pretty sure reject that particular piece of stupid legislation and rule it illegal. Let's just see what happens on that one. callippo
Which just goes to show Israel is no different to it's neighbours. Israel is just miles ahead of all the other countries in the Middle East, when it comes to the little stuff like election of head of government, election of parliament, fairness of electoral laws, right to organise political parties, power of elected representatives, presence of an opposition, transparency, minority participation, level of corruption, freedom of assembly, independence of the judiciary, press freedom, religious freedom, rule of law, and property rights. bleat all you like, but this is just an indiputable fact. THe other countries are so far behind, it's difficult to see how, however well they do, they won't be playing catch-up for most of the rest of this century. the Palestinian and other Arabs know this, even if you don't. Which is why when anybody polls them, they give Israel high marks for the kind of freedoms that the inhabitants of western liberal democracies like ours take for granted, but for which Arabs, apart from Israeli Arab citizens, can only dream. Index ranks Middle East freedom Israel: 8.20 Lebanon: 6.55 Morocco: 5.20 Iraq: 5.05 Palestine: 5.05 Kuwait: 4.90 Tunisia: 4.60 Jordan: 4.45 Qatar: 4.45 Egypt: 4.30 Sudan: 4.30 Yemen: 4.30 Algeria: 4.15 Oman: 4.00 Bahrain: 3.85 Iran: 3.85 UAE: 3.70 Saudi Arabia: 2.80 Syria: 2.80 Libya: 2.05 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/4450582.stm

upinwath
You mean have the balls to pick up a gun to defend your homeland instead of playing keyboard warrior 1000s of miles away? Or the kids tossing stones at armed troops to protest about those troops attacking and invading the kid's homeland. So how do you feel about sexual assaults on these children? upinwath
It's nice to see the pro Israeli posters at it again. I wonder if they all supported action against Iraq for violations of UN resolutions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_Nations_resolutions_concerning_Is
