Very sad that Ben's family don't have the money or media friends that Madelaine McCann's parents have. I have always been amazed at how two health professionals could leave their kids unattended whilst out eating and drinking and yet get so much media attention and sympathy. It does seem that being working class and from Sheffield has not helped Ben's family and their cause.

He's either dead, or he is already older. He'd be almost 25 by now.

Yes , exactly, and the McCanns are examples of that to be honest. I have far more sympathy with Ben Needham's family (i don't know their names sadly which illustrates my point about media coverage).

yes the needhams have been pretty low profile..i think ben was abducted it is obvious on a gut feeling no fowl play was involved.the mcanns scream attention,im sitting on the fence here..but i can tell you something does not sit well with me with these 2.

I feel that as well but if this thread goes in that direction it will probably disappear. I think at the very least the McCanns have escaped any criticism from the media in this country. If a couple on Manor went to the pub , left their kids alone, and the worst happened they would be pilloried and their other kids would be taken away by social services.

Still no sign of this lad will we ever find out what has happened to him.

A programme about him is now on BBC1.

 

daytime TV, not really the best slot when most people are at work.

I'm an 'average person' and I feel great sympathy for both families having to live with losing their child. Its not all about 'fault'.

 

There was a lot of media coverage for Ben Needham's family when he went missing. But the media has changed in the years in between the two events, everything gets more publicity now than 20 years ago. Except good news stories.

 

Lets not turn this into another thread about the McCann's, its about Ben Needham.
