Does anyone else use twitter

Recommended Posts

I used to be an avid facebooker along with the rest of my family until it got so that i would usefacebook chat to talk to my husband in the same room as me lol! so we both decided to deactivate our accounts. I switched to twitter to fill the void and wondered does anyone else use twitter locally and if you do is there anyone local worth following?

When someone doesn't 'get' twitter it's because they haven't tried it for at least a few weeks and have just been told about it. It doesn't work for everyone though either. But it's a feed you can ignore or take part in.

Like yesterday, I wasn't watching the murdoch thing but I was interested. Wasn't really paying attention to my twitter feed either but I have a panel ticking away and then there was a sudden flurry of activity mainly with WTF and OMG type posts - I knew something major had happened, real time and I clicked to a stream of it. If I read those tweets a few hours later, it's "whatever, old news". But stuff on facebook a few hours old will probably be relevant for days if not weeks.

It isn't a replacement for Facebook. Facebook is when you want to announce to your friends and family something going on in your life, like "moving house" "having a baby" "party at mine" etc. You'd tweet if you want to be part of a trend or crowd or share something amusing on the web or something that is happening NOW that people can either look at or ignore. I don't watch football or much sport but could liken it to a crowd of football supporters in a stadium, unlikely they all know each other but they all sing at the same time about how a certain team is better than another - a common belief - maybe like banning or supporting fox hunting, we all have our issues.

Some people do post their breakfast etc but then when is everything on the web serious?

Another reason I like twitter is that it's too the point - unlike this post, so if you can't say it in 140 characters with todays attention span; is it worth saying at all?

Sorry to go on.
