alternageek
hi i like to twitter or facebook. in facebook you can chat with friends but in twitter no facility available here Thats because Twitter isnt made for direct 'chats' Its meant to chat with EVERYONE (or everyone who follows you, if your tweets are protected)
rickiethecat
I would rather talk to real friends face to face than waste my spare time twittering trivial messages to fake friends online. Twitter is just a brief fad that might be trendy now but one day will be forgotten just like skateboards and rubiks cubes.

Twitter is just a brief fad that might be trendy now but one day will be forgotten just like skateboards and rubiks cubes. People still skateboard and get paid a disgusting amount of money to do so. I wont be paid to twitter, though With twitter you either get it or dont. Its not a bad thing, its just not for you, but to say its only talking to people you've never met, that's not the case at all.

skinz
I have a twitter account but have no idea how it all works. Think it's more to do with how many hits you get isn't it? The more you get the more obsessed you get.

bladesman123
Twitter is great. The all knowing self important hate it though. Or maybe the opposite way round but use whatever works for you. For local tweeps I follow https://twitter.com/#!/WildSheffield https://twitter.com/#!/tramlines https://twitter.com/#!/syptweet https://twitter.com/#!/ActivitySheff https://twitter.com/#!/SCCPressOffice https://twitter.com/#!/shefopendoors https://twitter.com/#!/NHS_Sheffield https://twitter.com/#!/SheffieldGreens https://twitter.com/#!/SheffieldHosp https://twitter.com/#!/sheffieldjob (used to follow when wanted a job) https://twitter.com/#!/showroomcinema https://twitter.com/#!/StoryingShef https://twitter.com/#!/sheffieldblog When someone doesn't 'get' twitter it's because they haven't tried it for at least a few weeks and have just been told about it. It doesn't work for everyone though either. But it's a feed you can ignore or take part in. Like yesterday, I wasn't watching the murdoch thing but I was interested. Wasn't really paying attention to my twitter feed either but I have a panel ticking away and then there was a sudden flurry of activity mainly with WTF and OMG type posts - I knew something major had happened, real time and I clicked to a stream of it. If I read those tweets a few hours later, it's "whatever, old news". But stuff on facebook a few hours old will probably be relevant for days if not weeks. It isn't a replacement for Facebook. Facebook is when you want to announce to your friends and family something going on in your life, like "moving house" "having a baby" "party at mine" etc. You'd tweet if you want to be part of a trend or crowd or share something amusing on the web or something that is happening NOW that people can either look at or ignore. I don't watch football or much sport but could liken it to a crowd of football supporters in a stadium, unlikely they all know each other but they all sing at the same time about how a certain team is better than another - a common belief - maybe like banning or supporting fox hunting, we all have our issues. Some people do post their breakfast etc but then when is everything on the web serious? Another reason I like twitter is that it's too the point - unlike this post, so if you can't say it in 140 characters with todays attention span; is it worth saying at all? Sorry to go on. Thanks for them, iv got an interview tomorrow now from the sheffieldjob twitter page
