erebus
Men commit almost 90% of domestic homicides, and the victims are their female partners - who have often been previously battered by their killers. This means that females kill 10%. But looking a little deeper one finds that the reason women kill their partners is mainly due to years of abuse. For example: During her relationship with her husband, Malcolm, Sara Thornton endured repeated beatings. She sought help from numerous agencies, called the police repeatedly and her husband was eventually charged with assault. But he died before his court appearance. As he lay drunk on the sofa one night in June 1989, she stabbed him to death. The following year she was convicted of murder and given a life sentence by a judge who said she could have simply "walked out or gone upstairs". Two days later, Joseph McGrail killed his common-law wife, as she lay drunk, by kicking her repeatedly in the stomach. He was given a two-year suspended sentence for manslaughter and walked free. The judge expressed "every sympathy" for McGrail, adding "this lady would have tried the patience of a saint". So no male bias or double standards, there from a happily married understanding Judge’s????????????
erebus
The number of women killed by violent partners has risen dramatically in a year, figures showed today. Home Office statistics show that at least 101 women died in 2009 at the hands of a husband, boyfriend or ex-partner, up from at least 72 the year before. The proportion of the total number of female homicide victims who were killed in domestic violence incidents also rose, from 35% to 53%. The figures were revealed by charity Refuge as campaigners delivered an 8,000-word petition to Downing Street calling for domestic violence services for women and children to be protected. Sharp rise in number of women killed by violent partners At least 101 women died at the hands of husband, boyfriend or ex in 2009, Home Office figures show Rachel Williams guardian.co.uk, Thursday 9 December 2010 20.24 GMT So males have decided that killing just two partners a week neds a boost to 4 a week ....Brilliant!!!! medusa
If men commit 90% of the domestic murders then surely women commit 10%, not 20%?
AJ sheffield
If men commit 90% of the domestic murders then surely women commit 10%, not 20%? Yes but apparently only 18% of those women believe that 43% of that figure is only 27% accurate and remaining 2% think there is only an 8% chance of that happening.
