Allen
As a kid, the first film I saw at the cinema was "Summer Holiday"....mum took me. As a teenager "Kes" ...'cause it was filmed locally. But the best down to earth film, so to speak, is "Spring and Pork Wine". Tells the story of life in Bolton in the late 60's. Filmed in 1970. They don't make'em like that anymore. megalithic
One that sticks in my mind was Jason and the Argonauts in the early 60s. For the time, the Harryhausen special effects were awesome. Awesome film, left me gobsmacked as a young un.

Mmmm, pork wine Westworld and Close Encounters are films I remember clearly from my youth, but I thought Star Wars was very 'meh' at the time.
