Longcol
Are the people still starving, if they are what does that tell you? It tells me that £38m will feed 1.3 million people for 3 months in Ethiopia. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14007181
Longcol
My Bold=, where did last years aid go? Perhaps on feeding people - it doesn't really go that far.
Longcol
Anyway - back to the OP - any evidence my electric bill is paying for foreign aid? You haven't managed any so far.
skinz
My Bold=, where did last years aid go? JFK answered your question, at least have the decency to return the favour rather than answering with another question. So, again... That either the aid is yet to reach their area, or there isn't enough aid getting to the area. So what evidence do you have to back up your presumptions? Please, no "my mate told me so" answers. We await your reply in anticipation.
Cyclone
Anyway back on topic let's have your views on well spent foreign aid http://humanitariannews.org/20110707/ethiopia-buys-arms-millions-starve Let's see how you worm your way out of this and excuse misspent foreign aid This isn't back on topic at all. What's this got to do with the electricity bill? If you wanted to talk about the misappropriation of aid money by corrupt foreign governments then why wasn't that the thread you started? If you wanted to talk about the misappropriation of aid money by corrupt foreign governments then why wasn't that the thread you started? Because funds for grants have been reduced for the UK to get cheaper electricity, yet funds have been found for foreign aid to Somalia and Etiopia, strange isn't it. The government don't want cheaper fuel bills on all fuels becuase that would mean less revnue to the exchhequer $60million in aid to Ethiopia just days before they bought 200 tanks, wake up smell the coffee. Bassman62
Perhaps on feeding people - it doesn't really go that far. My bold = "Perhaps" on feeding people. How do you know how far all the aid went it wasn't just the UK donating or "perhaps" it was, or "perhaps" it wasn't, or "perhaps" they use the tanks for tilling the land

Glamrocker
So does any tax we pay the gov but the title states electric bills. Why not put "our taxes pay for foreign aid" or wasn't that sensational enough? Nothingt to do with being sensational at the moment the fuel rises are a major problem,if it takes those as a n example to drive home the futile hypocrisy of sending aid to countries who seem to want to do nothing for themselves ,then use it.Charity begins at home, sorting out our faults should be the priority and then when thats done by all means try and help others but they have to be seen to help themselves first .Apologies to Oxam or any other agencies ads..."Remember for every rifle or hand grenade you buy the cost could supply one of your villages with a well for 5 years"
