Ween him off bit at a time till he's stopped. My mate use to have a nice home then he drunk and things got punched, smashed, trashed and broken. The kids lived in fear and so to his missis after that first can touched his lips as one wasn't enough, 25 a night or till he collapsed which ever came first. Get rid, or get sober.
