Doingalright
There are one million Muslims in this country, even if they all voted and voted for the same party they still represent a minority of the electorate. And the rest. the results of the 2001 census showed that there was over 600 thousand Muslims in London alone, well its been 10 years since then of course, and the latest census results should be interesting - I doupt very much that the Muslim population has frozen or gone down. chorba
Even if they did control local councils they couldn't implement anything that was contrary to English criminal law, that would require an act of parliament. Exactly. It's not up to the people. People can't just impose a new system of laws just because they are a majority. Otherwise we would have the death penalty in London's China Town etc ect. ps: death penalty doesn't exist in the UK right?

It all depends on what the English law says about having another law system other than the British one. Does it allow it? If not then no one can impose the sharia anywhere in the English territory. You wouldn't but it past a future majority Labour government(god help us) to bring in an act of parliament to make this happen.
nightlight59
The areas mentioned are predominantly Moslem so whats the problem,if they are the majority let them have sharia, its called democracy.
Jeffrey Shaw
ps: death penalty doesn't exist in the UK right? Right. It continued to exist, even after murder ceased to be a capital offence, but it applied only to rarer offences like piracy; treason; and setting fire to a naval dockyard [yes, really!] It was finally abolished only because the so-called ECHR insisted. Closet Guy.
Well the answer's simple isnt it? If Muslims are becoming empowered to get involved in political life and it's something that concerns you, then instead of moaning about it why don't you become involved yourself? There are one million Muslims in this country, even if they all voted and voted for the same party they still represent a minority of the electorate. I dont see it that way. Its a hostile takeover. The only problem is your average Brit has neither the balls nor the enthusiasm to do anything about it. Until the majority wake up and smell the islam, we as a nation are on a slipery road to being an islamic state.

No, it's NOT!!! We all have to live by the same laws, whatever ward we live in and whatever party runs our constituency. If a whole city happened to be Muslim or whatever, that would not be a reason to bring in laws for that city only that didn't apply elsewhere. That is a dangerous course to take. imo EDIT: It's like saying if a whole area were against the smoking ban and wished to smoke wherever they pleased, then they would be allowed a law to let them in that area they all live in!!!
