scottf
One of us has clearly misunderstood him; I thought he was suggesting that we expose the OP, Joe, to a bit of "Wybourn law" and then ask him whether Sharia is better or worse. Ah, my apologies to that man, i clearly didn't understand
Joe9T
Ok then- can you explain to me what it is?? in the LEGAL sense? Are you saying that if i walk down the street with a porno in a bag or betting on my mobile phone they could arrest me under there sharia law and sentence me? Of course they couldn't. They have said that they will have people "patrolling" these areas and I can only prosume that if you are found flouting, then your guess is as good as mine. These are the seeds of something not good and to me, I have no right to put similar stickers up in any area deciding that that area is now a law against whatever! chorba
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2019547/Anjem-Choudary-Islamic-extremists-set-Sharia-law-zones-UK-cities.html 'No porn or prostitution': Islamic extremists set up Sharia law controlled zones in British cities. I think this is shocking to say the least and it is tantamount to inciting racial hatred! "The bright yellow messages daubed on bus stops and street lamps have already been seen across certain boroughs in London and order that in the ‘zone’ there should be ‘no gambling’, ‘no music or concerts’, ‘no porn or prostitution’, ‘no drugs or smoking’ and ‘no alcohol’." Wow. I'm extremely interested in what the British law says about this. Where can I find the information?

Ah, my apologies to that man, i clearly didn't understand I think you'll find Closet Guy was suggesting that Mr Choudry be exposed to a bit of 'Wybourn Law' and hence scottf's suggestion needs no apology. That's presumably why Scotland Yard are investigating and the councils concerned taking down the posters/stickers? As far as I can see the protest has been given no legitimacy whatsoever. The people putting up the stickers have no right to stop anyone doing any of the things they refer to on the stickers, if that's what you mean. Joe9T
Flyposting has always been against the law. Why does this surprise you, or concern you, any more than the police investigating a case of someone spraying graffiti? What shocks me is that Scotland Yard are "investigating" it. Why investigate when they know who is behind it and the perpetrator has openly shown himself. I wonder if they have arrested him? Doubt it. Well if they beat me up i will go to the police and demand action- which is the same as what would happen if i were walking through any other area minding my own business. If a group of ment wants to beat you up then there isn't much you can do, no matter if they are black, white or any colour. But the police will still treat it the same no matter if they 'say' its because of this 'law'. You know as well as me it will never happen in the UK so why worry? These are the seeds of something not good and to me, I have no right to put similar stickers up in any area deciding that that area is now a law against whatever! Neither do they? and they are being taken down- i don't see what your problem is. If you take stuff like this serious you will only get worse. Why do you doubt it, Anjem Choudary is hardly unknown to the court system. Would you have someone convicted of an offence before the police investigated it?
