david weston
Thanks Hillsbro, I would be interested in the Head Postmaster before Leonard Gage if you can oblige further. David.
hillsbro
Hi David - I don't know who preceded Leonard Gage but I'll see if I can find out from philatelic "contacts" (I'm regional rep. for the Royal Philatelic Society). In the meantime if you are in Sheffield you could find out from the Local Studies Library on Surrey Street, by looking in a Kelly's directory for that time - somewhere near the beginning is a page headed POSTAL AND TELEGRAPH INFORMATION with the name of the Head Postmaster. (I think at least one Forummer has the 1961 Kelly's Directory).
Banker
Hi David - I happened to be in the Local Studies Library today. The Head Postmaster before Leonard Gage was F.G. Young O.B.E..
