Ramadan Mubarak

Recommended Posts

The purpose of Ramadan, for those who believe, is to get closer to god and be distant with the materialistic world.

It is a sort of spiritual elevation.

They try to overcome the basic human desires/needs: food, water, sex from sunrise to sunset, and shouldn't indulge in them after sunset, although a lot do, but everyone is free to do whatever they want.

They pray a lot more than the rest of the year too.

I have never seen children forced to fast. They do it because they want to copy the adults. Normal child reaction.

Fasting is an obligation when they reach puberty.

I suppose there are much worse things people do to get closer to their god. It just seems so unnecessary and unable to 'evolve' into something more positive when looking at it from the atheist perspective.
