Bring Back Dog Licensing

Recommended Posts

The problem would be policing any form of licensing. Short of stopping every person with a dog who is out on the streets.

If that happened who would do the checks? Who would fund the thousands of people needed to police it?

It would be a criminal offence the Police would implement it.

You wouldn't stop everyone, just ones spotted doing stuff like letting their dogs foul the place, or not keeping their dogs on a lead or not controlling them properly. No licence, £500 automatic fine. No licence, no treatment at the vet. Vets compelled to report unlicenced dogs. Public encouraged to report bad owners etc... etc...

It would actually be a good thing.

Im for it.

Spot checks of dog owners would bring around a change in attitude and people would be far more responsible with their pets, especially with fouling ect. It would also make people think if it was worth it actually owning a pet or not and stop some of the people not up to the responsibility from getting one (the likes of the trophy bull dog bread chavs ).

Im not sure how it would go for cat owners though but there should be no bias or favoritism with such a tax/insurance scheme.
