Peas Maker
We live in a democratic society , does the public get a vote about war ? Have they ever had a say in the matter ? And yes we have never been involved in so many different conflicts at any one time ..
HeadingNorth
We get a vote every five years (or less), on who will run the country for the next few years on our behalf. Those people, having been elected, get to vote for or against war.
azazel666
That's a really good point....I honestly think put to a vote we would get the right decision more times than the government make too.

tinfoilhat
Mob rule eh, sounds great. The public told Tony Blair what they thought of the war in 2005 with a slighty reduced majority. I'm told that election still haunts him.

pb1977
Ok OP, lets say the Argies decide to kick things off again and invade the Falklands, do we waste huge amounts of time running around setting up a vote for the public to decide if we should go to war with Argentina. Alot of people in this country arnt intelligent enough to be able to decide if going to war or not is the correct thing to do. We have a government to do that for us. But hey why leave it at just going to war, why not demand a public vote on everything the government decide to do. Although to me this just sounds like a bit of a i don't think we should be in Afghanistan rant.
kimba
We don't get to vote on wars, we vote for people that make decision for things like that on our behalf after they have had much consultation with media owners and people in the oil industry I imagine. Tradescanthia
We dont get votes on war or anything else for that matter. Every 4/5 years we just decide who is going to rip us off and <REMOVED> us the least. Democracy is a myth.
taxman
If the public were given a vote Simon Cowell would probably make an TV show out of it. Celebrity come shooting. I'm in Afghanistan...get me out of here. What to do with a problem like Iran. Britain's next top marksman.....etc etc
