antifascist
What is happening to our freedom and democracy! The united states is about to create a new "super congress" of 12 people who can ram through unpopular new legislation against the wishes of the American people. The lawmakers intention is to limit the effectiveness of the people's voice in congress and concentrate power in the hands of a few individuals making them better able to push through tax hikes and spending cuts that would never pass through the regular congress. Are they allowed to just take power away from the people like this? Does anybody still cling to the illusion that the U.S. is a benevolent democracy? andyofborg
What is happening to our freedom and democracy! nothing, we're not american The united states is about to create a new "super congress" of 12 people who can ram through unpopular new legislation against the wishes of the American people. The lawmakers intention is to limit the effectiveness of the people's voice in congress and concentrate power in the hands of a few individuals making them better able to push through tax hikes and spending cuts that would never pass through the regular congress. Are they allowed to just take power away from the people like this? are they actually doing that or just trying to get a consensus plan which can then be presented to the full congress in a bid to avoid a repeat of the embarrasing pantomine of the last couple of weeks. Does anybody still cling to the illusion that the U.S. is a benevolent democracy? was it ever one?
Harleyman
It's obvious that the debt ceiling crisis was a manufactured one by the Tea Party. There never was a crisis in the first place. I hope that this will be remembered by the voters in 2012.
