Steptoad
Unless like Featherstone-Hough its spelling bares little resemblance to it's pronuciation, Feathersone-Hough is pronounced Fanshaw. So maybe Stuyvesant is pronounced Fags or Coffin-Nails.
HeadingNorth
The one person I knew who was actually called Stuyvesant said it was pronounced "Stevesen." (As in "Stevenson" without the N) That may not be the only pronunciation. Other families might insist on something completely different, and I have no idea how it applies to cigarettes. Bertielil
Remember years ago, at the cinema, when they had adverts for "The World of Peter Stuyvesant" it was pronounced Sty-Ve-San. Those adverts went on for ever, or so it seemed to me (1960's) they were like mini travelogues.
CXC3000
were they called Peter Styvesant ? I think they were. Not sure if the guy'd be too happy to know his name's responsible for millions of deaths...
