Oddgitt
Hi Andrew, I help out with SPRITE (Sheffield Partnership for Rivers In the Town Environment). They regularly hold working parties to clean up the rivers and remove invasive speciies - they generally have a fish afterwards. I can put you in touch with them if you like? I'd be happy to join you for a fish as well when I have some spare time - I've been meaning to get out on the Don for ages!

Oddgitt
Yeah you'll need a licence, bout 27 quid from memory. They have working parties every couple of months - more often in the summer, but i think they just had their last one for a while last weekend. They have a regular meet but I've not been yet so can't recall when/where it is.
