MonkeyLover
I have just had the two spare bedrooms skimmed. We left it to dry for just over a week, and then just painted with 2 coats of good quality emulsion, and it looks great!

hellabobby
Thanks a lot for that hellabobby! So does that mean I can't paper for 6 months?!! You need to be confident that the walls have dried out completely On rescims that happens sooner but every case can be different. Also on rescims if you use emulsion paint it absorbs the light and looks better whereas any shiny paint reflects the light and shows up any discrepancies It seems a shame to cover a lovely neat plastered wall with paper though. NewUpNorf
It seems a shame to cover a lovely neat plastered wall with paper though. lol I know! I'm reluctant to even paint it! But it's only one very small 'feature' wall to add a bit of variety to an otherwise plain room! Thanks for your help and advice- I think I will paint all the walls first, and do the skirting boards and doors etc, and by the time I've done that the wall will be well dry enough to paper!
