Best decent place to dine/relax in daytime?

Recommended Posts

Later this year I will be meeting a female friend (literally, Mrs.E might even be attending) from Australia (originally London) who's visiting relatives in Blighty, and will be in Sheffield for a day or two.

I hoped to show Sheffield at it's best and was wanting somewhere nice and decent to eat lunch/drink during the afternoon and chat, not exactly overly posh/stuck-up, but certainly without chavs and drunken morons shouting and fighting etc- which rules out a few places I could still name?

Delicate balance, huh?

I don't go into town much so am unfamiliar with the pubs and restaurants etc suitable for daytime socialising? The places on Leopld St/West St look nice in that plaza, but aren't they a bit expensive and posh? That lawyer bar (?) is opposite.

Thanks in advance

Bars in Leopold Sq are not expensive or posh - they're just bars and mostly chain cafes and bars at that - they're not bad, and pretty cheap in the day too! Lot's of happy hours that last most of the afternoon, but don't attract the wetherspoons crowd:)
